The 271 PLL season, the 97th regular season of the Premier League Limmie, began on Primeday 306:9:4 with the defending Premiership 96 champion Kessel Runners losing to the Tatooine Sandskimmers 15-26 and ended with Premiership 97, the league's championship game, on 306:10:19 at the Armory inside of Riecrof Memorial Stadium on Balmorra where the Balmorra Blasters defeated the Kessel Runners 4-1.

New leadership and new look

After losing three teams to rival leagues, confidence in Commissioner Agado's leadership waned. In response he resigned and named former Elite League team owner, Wilran K'ntarr, as his successor. Commissioner K'ntarr's first act as leader of the Premier League was announcing the new, two-conference, eight-team structure.

Each conference was set-up based on the teams location in the galaxy, divided evenly between North and South.

Season structure

Starting in 271, the PLL season featured the following schedule:

an exhibition season to play friendlies versus teams from other leagues;
a 7-game, 7-week regular season; and
a 6-team single-elimination playoff, culminating in the Premiership Final

Regular Season

The league wide restructuring, caused by the Fondor Freedom and the Cloud City Sky Captains departure to the GCLA, allowed for an unbalanced, seven game, round-robin scheduling formula.
