The 271 S16 season, the regular season of the Super 16 Conference, began with a doubleheader match-up of the defending Crendan champion University of Corellia-Bella Vistal Renegades losing at home to the College of Fondordelphia Ions (1-26), and the defending Carnation Bowl champion University of Kuat Destroyers defeating the Cinnagar Imperial College Hyperdrives at home (36-33). The season ended the same way it started, with a Ions victory over the Renegades in the Super 16 Championship game (17-8). The College of Fondordelphia received an automatic bid to the Carnation Bowl and lost to the Bak10 champion, University of Bakura - Telaan Valley, in overtime (29-30).

Expanding for more creditsEdit

The increased galactic financial crisis, along with several young athletes and scholars being called off to war, the Galactic Collegiate Athletic Association decided to expand the Limmie season by three weeks. Each conference was to determine how they wanted to fill those weeks, whether with additional conference matches or even non-conference matches. The Super 16 Conference Commissioner decided that it would be best to have three additional, interdivisional, conference games. That way the proceeds from those matches would stay within the Super 16 Conference.

Season structureEdit

Starting in 271, the S16 season featured the following schedule:

• a 3-game, 3-week non-divisional schedule;
• a 7-game, 7-week divisional schedule; and
• a 8-team single-elimination playoff, culminating in the Super 16 Championship

Regular SeasonEdit

The conference wide restructuring, caused by the lengthening of the collegiate season, allowed for an expanded scheduling formula.Each team's 10-game regular season schedule is set using a predetermined formula.

• Each team plays each of the other seven teams in its own division once in an unbalanced, round-robin format, switching between home and away in alternating seasons.
• Each team will play three teams from the other division once on a rotating five-year cycle, evening out home and away schedules.
• Each team in the conference will play five home and five road matches.

This created the ten game regular season schedule for each school.
